Marmara oxygen series opens to public access
The dissolved oxygen series collected hourly for two years from twelve stations in the Sea of Marmara is now open to public access. The data is published together with the temperature and salinity values recorded at the time of measurement, and with station coordinates and depths.
We put the calibration records in the same package as the data. Some may consider that a detail, but oxygen probes are instruments prone to drift: how reliable a series is depends on when the probe was last verified and against which reference solution. Without that information the number cannot be audited.
The series shows the seasonal oxygen cycle in deep water has broken down. We are not leaving the interpretation entirely to the reader, but we do want the argument to run over the same data. There is one condition of use: cite the source.
